Getting around San Diego can seem daunting at first because of the sheer size of the city. After studying the maps and where all the attractions are located you'll quickly get the hang of it. Being without a car in San Diego can be a little difficult because of its scale, but if you choose to not rent a car, you can get by with taxis and public transportation. The city bus services the city and the trolley is a great option if you are staying in old town, mission valley or downtown.
>
San Diego Trolley The trolley runs through mission valley along I-8 to San Diego State University and then down through downtown and to the Mexico border. Use the trolley when heading downtown, to the mall. It is great if you want to visit Old Town San Diego, Qualcomm Stadium to watch the Chargers play or Petco Park to see the Padres play as it will drop you exactly where you want to be.

San Diego Coaster The San Diego Coaster services the North Coastal part of San Diego County so this is a good bet if you'd like to go to Legoland (you'll have to then transfer to a bus) or any of the beach communities like Encinitas or Solano Beach. You can pick it up at the Old Town station or the Santa Fe Depot.
