Gaslamp San Diego is the cultural heart of Downtown San Diego. The Gaslamp Quarter evolved during the days of the wild west. Its original name comes from the gas lamps that lined the streets. Much of the architechure in the Gaslamp District was built around that time giving it the charm that it has today. The Gaslamp is comprised of 4th, 5th and 6th Aveunue of Downtown San Diego and between Broadway and J Street. The area surrounding is neat too, just east of the Gaslamp is a newly developed area called San Diego's East Village.
The Gaslamp Quarter With shops and restaurants and nightclubs all unique to the area the Gaslamp has a unique flavor all its own.
