Coronado Beach
The white sands of Coronado Beach create a warm and inviting blanket to bask upon. The scene is friendly, relaxed and very family-oriented. There are plenty of opportunities to join in on a game of volleyball, or swim and boogie board in the ocean (no surfing). This is probably the widest beach in San Diego with it taking a few minutes to walk from the road to the water. This expanse makes it feel spacious and uncrowded in comparison to other beaches. At times, with Naval Base Coronado nearby, you can even see planes soaring overhead practicing a few expert moves. As the evening approaches, be certain to stick around for a spectacular sunset. At the northern most end of the beach there is a section for dogs to run off leash and play in the water.

When laying on Coronado Beach during the week you can watch the navy practice aerial maneuvers as the runway is just south of Coronado Beach. The Navy Amphibious Base trains the west coast Navy Seals. Many seals hang out at Mc P's Irish Pub on Orange Avenue. Coronado is proud of its military tradition and the community is very patriotic.
